That's a Target Bed?

Yup! Can you believe it? I can't. And I bought the darn thing. It's a bit shinier than I thought it would be, but I'm coping. :) I am on the hunt for pillows however and for something to hang above the bed. I want lots of texture in the pillows--in shades of taupe...and I can't find anything. Anyone have any ideas?

Lovely headboard! :) How about a pic collage above the bed OR a vintage window...perhaps you and the hubs initials using big chunky letters? Just a couple ideas for you. :)

Smiles,
Rachel

If you can sew you can find nice linen marked down at all the fabric stores and I found two wonderful linen dresses that have some embroidery on them in similar color of flowers and leaves - just gives the linen a bit more texture. They were at the thrift store so I bought three for $5 and am going to cut them up to make pillows..
good luck it looks lovely

Oh I love it! Good ole Target does it again. How about a plate collage above the bed. I’ve seen some really cute ones out there in blog land. They usually get their plates or paltters from Goodwill and spray them with a high gloss spray paint if they do not match the color they are looking for. You could use plates in topes, creams, and maybe throw in a light green or pale blue to add a little color. Lately I’ve been buying pillows at GW. It’s crazy that they are much cheaper (usually $2 or less) than buying the actual pillow form. You can Lysol them and put them in a baggie and place them in the freezer (I know this sounds crazy) to get rid of any germs that may be lingering from their last owner. Crazy right, but I read about it somewhere and a granny told me the same thing the other day. She said she does it to the stuff animals she buys from GW for her grandchildren or dogs. Anyhoo you can buy pillows you like the shape of from a thrift store find a good fabric and walla custom throw pillows for cheap! If you’re not a seamstress as I am not you can used a seam glue or seam strips that adhere when you iron over them to make a quick and easy pillow. I bought a BIG pillow the other day at GW that I’m going to turn into a dog bed. I can never find a dog bed that matches my colors. I wanted one for them in our living room so I didn’t want it to stick out like a sore thumb since people are going to see it. I’m going to cover it with a fun print that matches the colors we have in the living room. We’ll see how it turns out.

Ps...sorry this ended up being so long.

Pop some color in there maybe. Red pillows...blue pillows, etc. I like to do that because while the pillows can be changed, the room remains neutral and therefore interchangeable! Iron or scrollwork above the bed, classic, elegant. PS-love the bad, Target you say??? I love them too!

Pillows are super easy to sew - if that's your thing. Then you could just go to the fabric store and touch all the fabric until you get the right textures!

Super easy way to make smaller sized pillows at a fraction of the cost. Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick and Bower Power both used place mats, opened one end a little bit and stuffed with batting. I found that at Wal-Mart they have what is called a Travel Pillow for like $3.62 each - I buy the place mat, open one end, put the pillow in and then "sew" it back up with fabric glue. I love them!! $7 or less for each one - Good luck! I love your headboard by the way - lucky girl! Kris
