Heirloom Party

Emma Calls Me Mama is having an Heirloom Party! Here's what I bring to the table:

I received a lot of furniture from my grandmother after she died and it took me many years to appreciate it. I didn't have a house yet and wasn't really into decorating. Weird, right? Well, I Totally appreciate it now. I love this little console table.

I replaced the knobs on this dresser as many of them were missing. I was debating painting this to make it match the other furniture in the room, but I think the wood is pretty as is.

This is my favorite piece. My other grandmother, (who is alive and well! ) bought this for me when I was younger. It's a child size dresser that I use as a night stand. Technically, not an heirloom, but it will be when I pass it on to my kids! :)

So great! I really like the console and the chests. I really don't have any heirlooms. Just a big blue bowl of my grandmother's. That is why I am buying vintage so I can pass some on... if they survive Baby Hughes!!

I love your heirlooms..my children are 30 and 28 and I thought that they would like everything modern when they grew up, having to put up with 'old' stuff as they were growing up, but they both love old houses and old things with a modern twist. XXXX

That little white dresser is my favorite too--I wish my grandmothers had more cool things and fewer grandkids. ;)

Hello Susan - I'm so glad you joined the party! I adore your treasured pieces of furniture. That console is so pretty and I like how you've used the baskets below w/the scale. The dresser is fabulous - love the new knobs! And my fave is the child's dresser. How sweet is that!

Blessings,
Marie

Beautiful heirlloms. Don't they just make you smile each time you see them when you walk into a room? You did a wonderful job on this, I am sure your grandma must love it and I think you are so wonderfully fortunate to still have her with you to enjoy all the beautiful things that you have and will yet create. I love your blog and style... Rose

I looked at all your pics of examples..my dh just painted an icky oak china closet for me.Now after seeing those painted white closets I feel really good about doing it.Even gave me ideas with chairs for table. I have my familys old oak table but need chairs..Well enough with me..enjoyed your blog. Sally
